I personally have a difficult time with change… yet I’ve done it so much in my life. I keep making changes to find stability. It sounds like a crazy contradiction but here are some scenarios that highlight this. Perhaps you have some of your own?

Let’s fix the college classroom!
As I recently published “Why are you still coming to class?”, I wanted to follow up with the other side of the equation and offer some…
suggestions for teachers/professors still in the classroom. My early years in IT support and Educational Technology were focused on providing schools and their teachers with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.

Let’s talk about what happens in most college classrooms. First, here is what a typical day requires:

Professors come to class with their lesson in mind, students are expected to have completed the homework/readings required and then the lecture begins.

Why are you still coming to class?
We all know that crisp feeling on campus. The leaves start to fall as summer memories fade. I can’t wait for students NOT to come to class.
Huh?

I help develop and maintain our University’s online school and its classes as an Instructional Designer. It’s an exciting job and filled with great challenges. We have many different roles within our institution but creating fully online classes is the one that gets me the most excited. My challenge is to create learning experiences that are even better than what a student could get in a face to face classroom.
